Soccer Recap: Oneida Takes a Loss

Oneida fought the good fight in their overtime game against Roane County on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. While the 2-2 score might suggest a draw, it was the Yellowjackets who were credited with the victory. The Roane County Yellowjackets got it done in the shootout by posting five goals to the Oneida Indians' four. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Roane County this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-0 back in April.

Miles Laxton and Levi James scored both of Oneida's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 36 goals.

With the loss, Oneida broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-8-1. As for Roane County, their win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-5.

Coming up, Oneida will challenge Gatlinburg-Pittman at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Gatlinburg-Pittman will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something Oneida surely won't give up without a fight. Roane County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
