Basketball Recap: Basalt Comes Up Short

Basalt was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 13th straight defeat. They took a 30-17 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Aspen Skiers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Skiers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 27-26 back in January.

Basalt's loss dropped their record down to 2-18. As for Aspen, their victory ended an 18-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-15.

Basalt and Aspen could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings. Basalt will square off against Delta at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday down 237 places (299 vs. 62). Similarly, Aspen (ranked 273rd) will meet Gunnison (ranked 119th) at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
