Basketball Recap: Four Straight Home Wins for Clearfield

Box Elder came into Friday's matchup looking for another win against Clearfield, but Isabelle Wyaskett wouldn't allow it. The Clearfield Falcons enjoyed a cozy 52-33 victory over the Box Elder Bees on Friday thanks in part to Wyaskett, who went 5 of 9 en route to 16 points and eight steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last seven games she's played.

Another player making a difference was Xiyah Yarbrough, who posted six points in addition to seven rebounds and five steals. She is becoming a predictor of Clearfield's success: when she posts at least three steals the team is undefeated (and 4-5 when she doesn't).

Box Elder's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brooklyn Burt, who scored ten points. Burt continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Grace Dooley also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Clearfield pushed their record up to 10-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.5 points per game. As for Box Elder, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-14.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Clearfield will square off against Viewmont at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Viewmont will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Clearfield surely won't give up without a fight. As for Box Elder, they will take on Roy at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Box Elder is facing Roy at the right time seeing as Roy is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
