Softball Recap: Craigmont Takes a Loss

Craigmont extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 15 on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 0-6 in the process. They fell 5-1 to the Raleigh-Egypt Pharaohs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Chiefs of the 3-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

As for Raleigh-Egypt, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 2-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for they.

For Raleigh-Egypt's part, Keira Ressler made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and not a single walk). Ressler was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jakayla Payton, who got on base in both of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run. Jasmine Kilpatrick was another key player, earning one run and two stolen bases.

Coming up, Craigmont will take on Cordova at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Raleigh-Egypt, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Middle College at 4:30 p.m.
