Benton Central won the last time they faced Pioneer and Madison Minniear did her part to make sure it happened again. The Bison were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Panthers on Tuesday with plenty of help from Minniear, who had five aces and three digs. She is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in each of the last three games she's played.
Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Benton Central took every set by at least 12 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-11, 25-11, 25-13.
Bella Widmer and Isabelle Adams were among the main playmakers for Benton Central as the former had ten digs and two assists and the latter had three digs and three aces. That's the most aces Adams has posted since back in August.
Meanwhile, Faith Christian unfortunately witnessed the end of their ten-match winning streak on Tuesday. They lost 3-0 to Rossville. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Eagles have suffered since November 9, 2024.
While Faith Christian ultimately came up short, they really made Rossville work, particularly in the third set. The final score came out to 25-22, 25-20, 27-25.
Benton Central will have to contain Caya Stillings as she made an impact in Faith Christian's last game. She had 21 digs and four assists.
Benton Central's win bumped their record up to 20-5. As for Faith Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 25-3.
Benton Central took their victory against Faith Christian in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bison since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
