Baseball Recap: Morenci Triumphs

Morenci proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by 20) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Buckeye Hawks 4-3.

Morenci's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Arick Martinez, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Morenci hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Buckeye struck out seven times.

Morenci has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-14 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Buckeye, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-12.

Morenci wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 10-1 loss against Combs on the 10th. As for Buckeye, they will welcome North Canyon at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
