Baseball Recap: Bishop Carroll Comes Up Short

Bishop Carroll extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping them down to 1-7. They lost 12-2 to the Penn Cambria Panthers. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Bishop Carroll saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ethan Holtz, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases. Zach Shedlock also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

As for Penn Cambria, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 3-5 record this season. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Penn Cambria's side, Ethan McCullen looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, Penn Cambria got a massive performance out of Caden Gibbons, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most RBI Gibbons has posted since back in April of 2025. Jace Davison was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bishop Carroll will square off against Glendale at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Penn Cambria, they will take on Central Cambria at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Red Devils have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.09 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
