Baseball Game Preview: Hayden Wildcats vs. Oak Grove Tigers

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Hayden Wildcats duke it out with Oak Grove Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Hayden is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Cleveland get on the board and left with a 14-0 win on Thursday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Wildcats as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Oak Grove came tearing into Tuesday's match with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.4 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured an 8-7 W against the Blue Devils.

Karter Brockman was incredible, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. Kyler Pollastrini was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Oak Grove always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.

Oak Grove pushed their record up to 12-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Hayden, their victory bumped their record up to 5-10.

Hayden was able to grind out a solid win over Oak Grove in their previous meeting back in March of 2023, winning 8-5. Will Hayden repeat their success, or does Oak Grove have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
