Central Noble is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Whitko is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Cougars will host the Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Central Noble is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
Central Noble's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They blew past Westview 12-0. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
The team relied heavily on Kierra Bolen, who went 1-for-3 with three runs and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Deter, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Central Noble kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Whitko fell victim to Northwestern and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers. Having soared to a lofty 17 runs in the game before, the Wildcats' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Whitko saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Taylor Long, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles.
Whitko moved to 6-3 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Central Noble, their win bumped their record up to an identical 6-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Central Noble has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Whitko struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Central Noble came out on top in a nail-biter against Whitko in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. Do the Cougars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
