Football Recap: Oakdale Starts Season with Loss at Home + How To Watch

Oakdale unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They received a blow on Friday as they fell 32-14 to the Sonora Wildcats. The Mustangs were not able to make up for their defeat to the Wildcats from their previous meeting back in August of 2024.

Grant Gardner threw for 42 yards on four of seven attempts. On the ground, Wes Burford rushed for 108 yards.

Sonora's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Eli Ingalls, who rushed for 78 yards and one score, and also threw for 120 yards and one touchdown on only ten passes. The Wildcats' leading receiver Steven Morfoot was Ingalls' top target yet again, picking up 96 receiving yards and one TD.

Oakdale didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 70-30 victory against Lincoln on the 29th. As for Sonora, they have also already played their next contest, a 51-0 win against Livingston on the 29th.
