Football Recap: Oakdale Starts Season with Defeat at Home + How To Watch

Oakdale unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. The contest between the Mustangs and the Sonora Wildcats didn't end well, with the Mustangs falling 32-14. The Mustangs were not able to make up for their defeat to the Wildcats from their previous meeting back in August of 2024.

Sonora got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Eli Ingalls out in front who rushed for 78 yards and one score, and also threw for 120 yards and one TD on only ten passes. The Wildcats' leading receiver Steven Morfoot was Ingalls' top target yet again, picking up 96 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Oakdale and Sonora should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Mustangs (ranked 116th) will meet Lincoln (ranked 233rd) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Sonora will square off against Livingston at 7:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (119 vs. 623).
