Football Recap: Oakdale Starts Season with Loss at Home + How To Watch

Oakdale unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a hard 32-14 fall against the Sonora Wildcats on Friday. If the Mustangs were looking for revenge after losing 31-21 to the Wildcats when the teams met back in August of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Grant Gardner threw for 42 yards on four of seven attempts. On the ground, Wes Burford rushed for 108 yards.

Sonora's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Eli Ingalls led the charge by rushing for 78 yards and one TD, while also throwing for 120 yards and one touchdown on only ten passes. The Wildcats' leading receiver Steven Morfoot was Ingalls' top target yet again, picking up 96 receiving yards and one score.

Oakdale has already played their next matchup, a 70-30 win against Lincoln on the 29th. As for Sonora, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 51-0 victory against Livingston on the 29th.
