Basketball Recap: Branden Smith's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Pasquotank County over First Flight

Pasquotank County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 74-65 to the First Flight Nighthawks. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 341st, while the Nighthawks are ranked 121st).

Pasquotank County lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Branden Smith, who went 6 for 10 en route to 13 points and five boards. He is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 45% in the last ten games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jayon Harris, who posted 11 points and five rebounds.

First Flight got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Mason Dobie out in front who scored 22 points. Judah Carlyle was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Pasquotank County's defeat dropped their record down to 8-12. As for First Flight, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season.

Looking ahead, Pasquotank County will face off against Northeastern at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for First Flight, they will challenge Currituck County at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday.
