Prior Lake and Shakopee are an even 5-5 against one another since September of 2018, but not for long. After both having extra time off, the two teams will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Shakopee took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Prior Lake, who comes in off a win.

Prior Lake is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Minnesota's top teams: Lakeville North, who was ranked seventh at the time (Prior Lake was ranked 17th). The Lakers won by a set and slipped past the Panthers 3-2. Surprisingly, this marked the Lakers' fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Prior Lake had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 20-25, 22-25, 25-16, 25-17, 16-14.

Meanwhile, Shakopee unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-match winning streak on Tuesday. They lost 3-0 to Lakeville South.

Shakopee's loss dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Prior Lake, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-9 record this season.

Everything went Prior Lake's way against Shakopee in their previous matchup back in September, as Prior Lake made off with a 3-0 win. Will the Lakers repeat their success, or do the Sabers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
