Volleyball Recap: Laney's Luck Changes for the Better on Tuesday

Laney's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They came out on top against the New Hanover Wildcats by a score of 3-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-0 back in September.

Laney had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 20-25, 25-23, 25-12, 25-11.

Among those leading the charge was Abigail (Abbey) Hendren, who had 21 assists and six digs. Grace Tantilla also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Laney was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 11 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since back in September.

Laney moved to 7-11 with that victory, which also ended their three-match losing streak. As for New Hanover, they dropped their record down to 5-15 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Laney will face off against rival North Brunswick at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, New Hanover is set to square off against their familiar foe Topsail at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
