Baseball Game Preview: McKinney Lions vs. Plano East Panthers

The McKinney Lions will face off against the Plano East Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. McKinney hasn't scored more than two runs for five games straight, a trend the squad is eager to reverse.

On Saturday, McKinney came up short against McKinney Boyd and fell 5-1.

McKinney got a good showing from Ethan Estes, who tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero earned runs gave Estes a new career-low.

On the hitting side, McKinney saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eldrick Ramos, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Plano East hadn't done well against Plano recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Panthers blew past the Wildcats 10-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Panthers.

Micah Gregory looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on RJ DelaPaz, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Ryan Clark, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

McKinney's defeat dropped their record down to 10-14. As for Plano East, the victory got them back to even at 12-12-1.
