Football Game Preview: Cactus Cobras vs. Willow Canyon Wildcats + Official Tickets

The Cactus Cobras will square off against the Willow Canyon Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Cactus had been on a three-game streak of scoring at least 31 points, but Yuma Catholic put an end to it on Friday. The Cobras lost 30-7 to the Shamrocks. The Cobras' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Despite the defeat, Cactus saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Nathaniel Linares rushed for 73 yards and one touchdown on only ten carries, and also picked up 47 receiving yards.

Cactus didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Donta Sutton and Aiden McCoy.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Willow Canyon's offense. They were dealt a 40-0 loss at the hands of Sunrise Mountain on Friday. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Wildcats were not able to get on the board.

Cactus' defeat dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Willow Canyon, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Cactus was able to grind out a solid victory over Willow Canyon in their previous meeting back in November of 2022, winning 21-14. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Wildcats' Brady Ferris, who rushed for 139 yards and a pair of TDs.
