After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Keyser, Robert C. Byrd was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 41-14 win over the Preston Knights. For the Eagles, this counts as revenge for the 28-7 victory the Knights walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2024.
Robert C. Byrd got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Isaiah Heflin out in front who threw for 170 yards and four TDs while completing 77.8% of his passes, and also punched in one score on the ground. The Eagles' leading receiver Quienten Hilliard was Heflin's top target yet again, picking up 122 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Robert C. Byrd was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 200 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Preston only rushed for 102 rushing yards.
Despite the loss, Preston still got an impressive performance from Slaton Manko, who rushed for 77 yards and one TD, and also threw for 144 yards and one touchdown. A healthy portion of that aerial production (83 yards to be exact) went to Aidan Schmidl, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.
The victory got Robert C. Byrd back to even at 2-2. As for Preston, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.
