Guthrie extended their winning streak to seven on Friday, bumping them up to 7-1. They came within six points of losing the streak, but they secured a 41-35 W against the Altus Bulldogs. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Bluejays also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2024.

Guthrie got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Zane Thomas out in front who rushed for 75 yards and two TDs. Daelon Rice was another key player, rushing for 60 yards and one score.

Guthrie didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Altus to a completion percentage of just 41.2%. The team can thank Skylor Scamman for the heroic effort on defense: he. Guthrie didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Rowan McHone.

Having lost for the first time this season, Altus fell to 7-1. The matchup marked their lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite the defeat, Altus saw an underclassman step up: freshman Jeymon Reed threw for 228 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Guthrie didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 47-42 loss against Carl Albert on the 31st. As for Altus, they have also already played their next game, a 51-8 win against Lawton on the 31st.
