Softball Recap: Summerfield Takes a Loss

If Summerfield was riding high fresh off their 16-1 takedown of Saline last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Rebels came up short against the Captain Shreve Gators on Monday, falling 17-2. The Rebels haven't had much luck with the Gators recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Akeirah Jones was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-2. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Stormy Middleton, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Summerfield's loss dropped their record down to 11-6. As for Captain Shreve, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 16-13.

Coming up, Summerfield will venture away from home to take on Choudrant at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Captain Shreve, they will host Byrd at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
