It's playoff time, and Scituate had no trouble coming through when it counted. They enjoyed a cozy 21-7 victory over the Smithfield Sentinels on Friday. This was payback for the Spartans, who suffered a 30-19 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Scituate was led to victory by Drake Dumont and John Rubiano. Dumont rushed for 68 yards and two TDs, while Rubiano picked up 77 receiving yards and one touchdown. Dumont was even better on defense, picking up a sack, forcing one fumble, and making 11 total tackles.

Scituate didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Smithfield to a completion percentage of just 41.7%. The Spartans have been improving in that area: they had allowed a completion percentage of 0.64 earlier this season, but they've only allowed one of 0.64 in their last three games.

Scituate's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-3. The road victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 4.3 points on average over those games. As for Smithfield, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-4.

Coming up, Scituate will venture away from home to challenge Narragansett at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Spartans 11, the Mariners 14.2) so any points scored will be well earned. Smithfield does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
