Winchester Community is a perfect 8-0 against Muncie Central since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Golden Falcons will take on the Bearcats at 5:00 p.m. Winchester Community is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.2 runs per game this season.
Winchester Community will bounce into Thursday's match after beating Richmond, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Golden Falcons put the hurt on the Red Devils with a sharp 25-2 victory on Wednesday. While the Golden Falcons didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Cassidi Ruble was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, earning one RBI and two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Winchester Community got a massive performance out of Ava Lanter, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Aviana Ramos was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI.
Winchester Community kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Muncie Central's offense. They came up short against Lapel on Wednesday, falling 20-0. The loss continues a trend for the Bearcats in their meetings with the Bulldogs: they've now lost eight in a row.
Winchester Community has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Muncie Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.
Everything went Winchester Community's way against Muncie Central when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Winchester Community made off with a 19-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Golden Falcons since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
