Baseball Recap: Dade Christian Drops Season-High Score on ABF Academy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Dade Christian). Everything went their way against the ABF Academy Cowboys on Thursday as the Dade Christian Warriors made off with an 8-1 win. For the Warriors, this counts as revenge for the 8-0 victory the Cowboys walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Leodan Rodriguez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on one hit and racked up 16 Ks. Those 16 strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, Ylurey Melfor was a standout: he scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Kelvin Perez, who scored two runs while going 4-for-5.

Dade Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as ABF Academy onlymanaged one hit.

Dade Christian's record is now 3-4. As for ABF Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coming up, Dade Christian will challenge Varela at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Dade Christian's pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so Varela's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for ABF Academy, they will square off against Ferguson at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
