Volleyball Recap: Bishop Verot Comes Up Short in High-Profile Game with Melbourne

Bishop Verot faced Melbourne in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Vikings fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 2-1. The loss put an end to the Vikings' undefeated start to the season.

Riley Hartley paced Bishop Verot's offense, picking up eight kills. Hartley got some help from Sidney Blackwood and her 16 assists. Samantha Till controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Melbourne was led to victory by Kinsey Hurd and Juliana Silvestri. Hurd had 13 digs and one assist, while Silvestri had 11 digs and two aces. Hurd is crushing it when it comes to digs: she's had at least ten every time she's taken the court this season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Bishop Verot fell to 2-1. As for Melbourne, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.
