Fort Knox is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Friday. They will host the Owensboro Catholic Aces at 8:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Fort Knox took a loss when they played away from home back in September, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed last Friday. They took down Waggener 36-20.

Fort Knox got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Vaughn Fielding-Chiles Jr out in front who rushed for 96 yards and four TDs. That's the most rushing touchdowns Fielding-Chiles Jr has posted since back in August of 2024. Another rusher making a difference was Jaylen Irish, who rushed for 147 yards and one score.
Another reason for the win was Fort Knox's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Robert Magalong, Lincoln O'Coin, and Julius Jessup, who each picked up one sack apiece.
Meanwhile, Owensboro Catholic waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Hornets 41-14. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Aces' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky football rankings (they are ranked 17th, while the Hornets are ranked 96th).
Owensboro Catholic's win came from a few key players Fort Knox will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Dre'Mail Carothers, who threw for 323 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 14.0 yards per attempt. He is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in each of the last three games he's played. Miles Edge helped Carothers out on the ground, rushing for 38 yards and a pair of TDs, while also picking up 73 receiving yards.
The win got Fort Knox back to even at 3-3. As for Owensboro Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Fort Knox has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 228.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Owensboro Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging 154 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
