The Gresham Gophers will face off against the Sandy Pioneers at 5:00  p.m.  on Wednesday. Gresham is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.4  runs per game  this season.
Gresham blew Nelson out of the water the last time the pair played, but  on Monday Nelson got their revenge. The Gophers fell just short of Nelson by a score of  10-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest  loss the Gophers have suffered  since April 3rd.
  La Terra Foster-Frison stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 2-for-4 with one  home run, two  runs,  and two  RBI.  Daya Nelson was another key player,  getting on base  in three of her four plate appearances with one  stolen base, two  RBI,  and one  run.
 Meanwhile, Sandy has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.71  runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit  on Monday. They lost  11-0 to Barlow. The Pioneers' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
 This is the second loss in a row for Gresham and  nudges their season record down to 11-6. As for Sandy, their  loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 12-5.
 Gresham couldn't quite get it done against Sandy in their previous meeting  back in May of 2024 as they fell  8-3. Can the Gophers avenge their  defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
