Recap: East Duplin Panthers vs. North Lenoir Hawks
In what's become a running theme this season, the East Duplin Panthers gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They breezed by North Lenoir at home to the tune of 64-31. East Duplin's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Leading East Duplin to victory were Kinsey Cave and Sallie Hatcher. Cave dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten assists, while Hatcher scored 22 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. It was the first time this season that Hatcher scored 15 or more points. Zakoya Farrior was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Despite the loss, North Lenoir still got an impressive performance from Kristina Mewborn, who scored 11 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Shamaya Lynch, who scored seven points.
The win (which was East Duplin's fourth in a row) raised their record to 18-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.8 points per game. As for North Lenoir, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 11 of their last 14 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season.
East Duplin will square off against South Lenoir at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. East Duplin is coming into the contest with six straight wins on the road, so South Lenoir is out to stop a squad with plenty of momentum. As for North Lenoir, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against James Kenan at 6:30 p.m. James Kenan will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something North Lenoir surely won't give up without a fight.
