Baseball Recap: Estes Park Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Estes Park duked it out with Lyons on Tuesday. The Bobcats fell just short of the Lions by a score of 5-4. That's two games in a row now that the Bobcats have lost by just one run.

Noah Webster and Caleb Sumner put in work while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Webster didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Meanwhile, Sumner tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (one). At the plate, Webster scored a run and stole two bases while going 3-for-4, while Sumner went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases.

In other batting news, Drake Kearney was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while going 2-for-3. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

Estes Park is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-5. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only one runs. As for Lyons, they picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 4-6.

Looking ahead, Estes Park will host Dawson School at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Lyons, they will head out to square off against Clear Creek at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Golddiggers will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
