Softball Recap: Montrose Comes Up Short

After flying high against Basalt on Saturday, Montrose came back down to earth. The Red Hawks fell just short of the Palisade Bulldogs by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The loss continues a trend for the Red Hawks in their meetings with the Bulldogs: they've now lost five in a row.

Montrose saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aubrey Blacker, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Montrose's defeat dropped their record down to 10-4. As for Palisade, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-5.

Coming up, Montrose will head out on the road to take on Grand Junction at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Red Hawks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 8.3 runs per game this season. As for Palisade, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Rampart at 2:00 p.m.
