Basketball Recap: Abby Thompson Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Poplar Springs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Central, Chipley was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They strolled past the Poplar Springs Atomics with points to spare, taking the game 44-29. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 206th, while the Atomics are ranked 521st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Chipley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Abby Thompson, who posted three points and six steals. The dominant performance also gave Thompson a new career-high in assists (four). Another player making a difference was Addyson Suggs, who earned 12 points.

Chipley's victory bumped their record up to 15-7. As for Poplar Springs, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-18.

Chipley will take on Graceville at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Graceville will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Chipley surely won't give up without a fight. Poplar Springs does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
