Basketball Recap: Derek Potter Key Part of a Team Effort in Coyotes Win

After losing to Mariposa County the last time they met, Denair decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Denair Coyotes snuck past the Mariposa County Grizzlies with a 63-57 win on Wednesday.

Denair's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Derek Potter led the charge by going 9 of 20 en route to 19 points along with five rebounds and three steals. The dominant performance gave Potter a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Koby Cervantes, who went 6 for 11 on his way to 13 points in addition to seven boards and three blocks.

Denair now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Mariposa County, their loss dropped their record down to 11-14.

Denair will be playing at home against Waterford at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Denair is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.6 points per game this season. As for Mariposa County, they will head out on the road to square off against Le Grand at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Mariposa County is facing Le Grand at the right time seeing as Le Grand is stuck on a 20-game losing streak.
