Softball Recap: Huron Takes a Loss

Huron extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to eight on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 0-4 in the process. They lost 15-0 to the Pinckney Pirates. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the River Rats' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

As for Pinckney, their record now sits at 4-2. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matches by 15 runs or more this season.

For Pinckney's part, Natally Pease made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Pease was even better at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mackenzie Burns, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Addison Wroblewski was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Huron will welcome Lincoln Park at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The River Rats are facing the Railsplitters at the right time seeing as the Railsplitters are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Pinckney, they will square off against Tecumseh at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Pirates' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Indians have averaged an impressive 9.8 runs per game this season.
