Volleyball Recap: Cypress Lake Takes a Loss

If Cypress Lake was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of South Fort Myers on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Panthers came up short against the Riverdale Raiders on Monday, falling 3-0. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Raiders recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

The final score came out to 25-9, 25-13, 25-12.

Ruby Wigginton paced Cypress Lake's offense, picking up three kills. Wigginton got some help from Lilly Witz and her seven assists. Finally, Brigitte Maillakakis kept Cypress Lake's defense grounded, leading the team with four blocks.

Riverdale's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Natalie Grant, who had 12 digs and three aces. That's the most aces Grant has posted since back in September.

Cypress Lake's defeat dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Riverdale, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-10 record this season.

Cypress Lake didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-2 victory against Mariner on the 7th. As for Riverdale, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against North Fort Myers on the 7th.
