Baseball Game Preview: Pickford Panthers vs. Cedarville Trojans

The Pickford Panthers will challenge the Cedarville Trojans at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Pickford has nine straight victories, Cedarville has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

While Pickford didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-8), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They put the hurt on Brimley with a sharp 16-4 win on Monday. Considering the Panthers have won seven matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Carter Rye was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with five stolen bases and two runs. Another player making a difference was Eli MacDonald, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Cedarville's offense. They lost 13-0 to Brimley on Wednesday.

Pickford pushed their record up to 9-0-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Cedarville, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.
