Baseball Recap: Centreville Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Centreville had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Ridley on Sunday. The Wildcats blew past the Raiders 11-1. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by ten runs or more this season.

Dylan Hassan looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Bryce Henneburg was a standout: he scored two runs and stole two bases. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Graham Rosenberg, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-2.

Centreville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory was the third in a row for Centreville, bringing their record up to 6-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Ridley, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.

Looking ahead, Centreville will take on North Lincoln in a tournament on Monday. The Knights' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so the Wildcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Ridley, they will challenge Westfield at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
