Basketball Recap: Chambers Skates Past Cox Mill with Ease

You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Chambers on Monday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew the Cox Mill Chargers out of the water with a 100-69 final score. The Cougars pushed the score to 71-50 by the end of the third, a deficit the Chargers had little chance of recovering from.

Leading Chambers to victory were Markus Kerr and Tarris Bouie III. Kerr went 12 of 16 on his way to 28 points along with six rebounds and three steals, while Bouie III went 8 for 13 en route to 24 points in addition to seven boards and five assists. Kerr's evening made it 11 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Malik McCotter, who went 6 of 9 on his way to 17 points and six assists.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Chambers was working as a unit and finished the game with 26 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cox Mill only posted 13 assists.

Cox Mill's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Teeshon Smith, who posted 15 points. Smith is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last nine games he's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Sherod McCmormick, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 17 points.

Chambers has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 81.5 points per game. As for Cox Mill, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chambers will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Harding University at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Cox Mill also won't see the court for a while: their next contest is against South Point at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Cox Mill is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 66.6 points per game this season.
