Softball Recap: Mountain View Comes Up Short

Mountain View extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 1-5 in the process. They came up short against the Blue Ridge Raiders, falling 12-6. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 3-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2021.

Mimi Sedlak was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Thatcher, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

As for Blue Ridge, their win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-7. The matchup marked their most dominant victory of the season.

On Blue Ridge's side, Hailey Carpenetti was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). Carpenetti was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Abby Piechocki was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Hailey Champang, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Mountain View is set to square off against their familiar foe Carbondale Area at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Blue Ridge will face off against rival Elk Lake at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
