Basketball Recap: Horizon Piles Up the Points Against Poston Butte

Horizon picked up another tournament win on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Poston Butte Broncos 70-33. Given the Huskies' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 105th, while the Broncos are ranked 257th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Horizon's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ethan Hayes led the charge by going 6 for 15 on his way to 15 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Milner, who went 5 of 6 on his way to 12 points.

Horizon smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

The victory got Horizon back to even at 6-6. As for Poston Butte, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-6.

Horizon didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 79-47 win against Peoria on the 20th. Poston Butte and Desert View will round out the year against one another at at 4:00 p.m. on December 27th. Poston Butte is facing Desert View at the right time seeing as Desert View is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
