Basketball Recap: Asheboro Takes a Loss

Asheboro was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. The game between them and the Central Davidson Spartans didn't end well, with the Asheboro Blue Comets falling 64-46. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Blue Comets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 58-22 back in January.

Despite the loss, Asheboro saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Adalynn Scherer went 5 of 10 en route to 11 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Laneane F Scherer, who posted eight points along with nine boards and six assists.

Central Davidson got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Logan Jordan out in front who went 6 for 12 on her way to 16 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. Raegan McCarn was another key player, putting up 20 points.

Asheboro's defeat dropped their record down to 3-16. As for Central Davidson, the victory got them back to even at 9-9.

Asheboro has already played their next match, a 39-34 win against North Davidson on the 4th. As for Central Davidson, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 58-35 victory against Montgomery Central on the 4th.
