Basketball Game Preview: Southwind Jaguars vs. Houston Mustangs

Southwind has won four straight games at home, while Houston has won four straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Southwind Jaguars will welcome the Houston Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Southwind is headed into the game having just posted their closest win since January 7th on Friday. They had just enough and edged Cordova out 53-50. Given the Jaguars' advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while the Wolves are ranked 143rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Southwind's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ronald Towns led the charge by going 7 for 11 to rack up 18 points. The dominant performance also gave Towns a new career-high in three-point shooting accuracy (80%). Another player making a difference was Kristopher Carrol, who posted ten points along with five assists and five boards.

Meanwhile, Houston sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 63-61 victory over Cordova on Tuesday.
