Softball Game Preview: Palmetto Scholars Academy Phoenix vs. Branchville Yellow Jackets

The Palmetto Scholars Academy Phoenix will face off against the Branchville Yellow Jackets at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Palmetto Scholars Academy and Charleston Math & Science, and Charleston Math & Science kept the tradition alive. The Phoenix fell just short of the Riptide by a score of 7-6 last Tuesday.

Lexi Lubbehusen was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-3. Lubbehusen is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Kayleigh Wright, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Branchville didn't have quite enough to beat Colleton County on Tuesday and fell 4-3.

Palmetto Scholars Academy's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-3. As for Branchville, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.
