Preview: St. Stephen's Episcopal Spartans vs. South Austin W Warriors

The St. Stephen's Episcopal Spartans will be playing at home against the South Austin W Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (St. Stephen's Episcopal has nine straight victories, South Austin W has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Last Monday, St. Stephen's Episcopal took their game at home with ease, bagging a 71-37 victory over San Marcos Academy. Given St. Stephen's Episcopal's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 255th, while San Marcos Academy is ranked 1234th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Gabriel Sahely was the offensive standout of the contest as he scored 16 points along with eight rebounds. The match was his third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenrik Kabano, who scored ten points.

Meanwhile, South Austin W's 12-3 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They had to suffer through a rough 70-35 loss at the hands of New Braunfels Christian Academy.

St. Stephen's Episcopal's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-3. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 40.67 points. As for South Austin W, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.

St. Stephen's Episcopal suffered a grim 45-21 defeat to South Austin W in their previous meeting back in January of 2016. Can St. Stephen's Episcopal avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
