League recap: Arkadelphia falls to upstart Central Arkansas Christian

Central Arkansas Christian scored a stunning upset when it knocked off Arkadelphia, 7-0. At the time, the Badgers was ranked 17th in the state, while the Mustangs was 94th.

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Central Arkansas Christian, who took down 17th ranked Arkadelphia, 7-0.

Joel Hendry and Jakaree Gaines gave Nashville a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Hendry threw for 306 yards and three touchdowns, while Gaines ran for 137 yards. Teammate LaMichael Pettway added to the ground attack by rushing for 73 yards.

Ethan Erwin made the biggest impact on defense this week as Ashdown lost to Malvern. The 6-foot-1 junior pulled down one interception and racked up 1.0 sack.

Dakota Newkirk was the best wideout in 4A Region 7 this week as Arkansas Baptist fell to the Scrappers. Newkirk tallied 10 receptions for 210 yards. Robert Paul Upshaw helped Arkansas Baptist's passing attack out by catching nine balls for 79 yards.

Riley Perkins provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Eagles lost to Nashville. He completed 24 passes for 302 yards and two touchdowns and also ran for 26 yards.

Thanks to the talents of Hendry and Gaines the Scrappers have been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Hendry leads the league in passing with 1838 yards, while Gaines has rushed for 616 yards this season. Arkansas Baptist's Newkirk leads the league in receiving yards with 796 on 43 catches.

Going into this week's game against the Leopards, Brad Helm's team's Perkins needs 180 passing yards to surpass 2,000 on the season. Accruing a total of 14 touchdowns this year, Perkins has thrown for 1820 yards with 12 interceptions.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when E.R. Eldridge's team takes on Robinson. At the moment, the Badgers are in second, while the Senators are in sixth.

There should be lots of points scored when the Panthers and Nashville face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Ashdown comes in having scored 162 this season, while the Scrappers have scored 281. Matt Richardson's team scored 0 points last week as it fell to Malvern.

John Fogleman's team extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Panthers, 29-0. The victory was the sixth in a row for the Leopards.
