Football Recap: Avoyelles Skates Past Lakeview with Ease

Avoyelles never let their opponents score on Friday. They claimed a resounding 61-0 victory over the Lakeview Gators. The Mustangs' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Avoyelles didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Kevin Jones, Hanson Guillot, and Terrance Valant picked up one apiece. Avoyelles received some extra help from Edwon Watson, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

The win made it two in a row for Avoyelles and bumps their season record up to 2-3. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 14 points in those games. As for Lakeview, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.

Coming up, Avoyelles will venture away from home to challenge Port Barre at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Mustangs are facing the Red Devils at the right time seeing as the Red Devils are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Lakeview, they will square off against LaSalle at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup will give the Gators their first taste of in-conference action this season.
