 With a playoff game on the line, Archbishop McCarthy rose to the challenge  on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Rockledge Raiders  and snuck past  5-4. The  win was familiar territory for Archbishop McCarthy who now have four in a row.
  Zach Tavarez tossed a big game,   tossing six innings while giving up  three earned runs off   three  hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in four consecutive pitching appearances.
 At the plate,  the team  relied heavily on  Greg Caban, who  scored a  run while  getting on base  in three of his five plate appearances.  Juan Cerra was another key contributor,  going 2-for-4 with a  double and  an  RBI.
 Archbishop McCarthy now  has a winning record of 15-14. As for Rockledge, their defeat  ended  a  16-game streak of wins at home  dating back to last season and  dropped them to 26-3.
 Archbishop McCarthy will head out on the road to  face off against  American Heritage at 7:00  p.m.  on Monday. American Heritage is coming into the  contest with five straight  victories at home,  so Archbishop McCarthy will have to stop a  team with plenty of momentum. Rockledge does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
