Baseball Recap: Eldorado Has No Trouble Against Manzano

Eldorado's game two weeks ago was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Manzano Monarchs with a sharp 14-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Golden Eagles, who have now won ten games by six runs or more so far this season.

Griffin Burak looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Timothy Kamphuis, who went 5-for-6 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Eldorado is undefeated when Kamphuis posts two or more runs, but 3-7 otherwise. Cirillio Martinez was another key player, going 4-for-5 with four runs and one stolen base.

Eldorado was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .415. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Eldorado's victory bumped their record up to 13-7. As for Manzano, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for another result: Eldorado was given a win via forfeit against Manzano later that day.
