Soccer Game Preview: Uvalde vs. La Vernia

Uvalde hasn't had much luck against La Vernia recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Uvalde Coyotes/Lobos (for girls) will welcome the La Vernia Bears at 6:30 p.m.

Last Friday, Uvalde came up short against Floresville and fell 3-1.

Meanwhile, La Vernia entered their tilt with Cole on Tuesday with six consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with seven. They came out on top against the Cougars by a score of 3-1.

La Vernia hit Cole with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Luke Green, Santiago Urtiberea, and Emiliano Perales.

La Vernia's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-4-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 46 goals over those eight games. As for Uvalde, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-7-1.

Uvalde suffered a grim 6-1 defeat to La Vernia when the teams last played back in January of 2024. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Uvalde was down 5-1.
