Volleyball Recap: Niobrara/Verdigre Falls Despite Big Games from Amber Sucha and Lynae Nielsen

It was a good run, but Niobrara/Verdigre unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-match winning streak on Saturday. They lost 3-0 to the Amherst Broncos.

The match finished with set scores of 25-9, 25-13, 25-6.

Niobrara/Verdigre's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Lynae Nielsen, who had 11 digs, and Amber Sucha, who had. Nielsen has been hot, having posted 11 or more digs the last seven times she's played.

Amherst was led to victory by Kenna Hagan and Breckyn Layne Veskerna. Hagan had seven assists and four aces, while Layne Veskerna had ten digs and one assist. That's the most aces Hagan has posted since back in September.

Niobrara/Verdigre's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 13-16. As for Amherst, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 25-5.

Niobrara/Verdigre does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Amherst, they will face off against Cross County at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday.
