Basketball Recap: Slidell Picks Up Seventh Straight Win at Home

Slidell had won six straight home games dating back to last season and James Chaney did his part to make it seven on Wednesday. The Slidell Tigers breezed by the West Jefferson Buccaneers to the tune of 68-39 thanks in part to Chaney, who went 13 of 20 on his way to 32 points along with five boards and four steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Slidell's points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Guidry, who posted six steals and five assists. Those five assists gave him a new career-high.

Slidell is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. As for West Jefferson, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-14 record this season.

When Slidell and West Jefferson next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Slidell will try to stop Scotlandville's three-game winning streak when the meet at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, West Jefferson will try to stop Sarah T. Reed's four-game winning streak when the meet at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
