Basketball Game Preview: Portal Panthers vs. Jenkins County War Eagles

The Portal Panthers will face off against the Jenkins County War Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Portal will be strutting in after a victory while Jenkins County will be coming in after a loss.

Last Saturday, Portal strolled past Southeast Bulloch with points to spare, taking the game 50-34.

Portal found their leader in sophomore London Blackmon, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine boards. Blackmon is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. Alyssa King was another key player, putting up ten points.

Portal smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in 15 consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Jenkins County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 18th straight defeat dating back to last season. They received a blow as they fell 54-36 to Claxton. One positive for the War Eagles, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Portal's win bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Jenkins County, their loss dropped their record down to 0-17.

Portal beat Jenkins County 45-32 when the teams last played back in December of 2024. Does Portal have another victory up their sleeve, or will Jenkins County turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
